GENERAL LIABILITY & BUSINESS OWNER’S POLICY
If you’re just starting out in your business venture, I know all of the different types of insurances offered for businesses can seem daunting. We are here to explain the details of all your options to you, because a well informed decision is the best one.
What is the difference between an general liability and a business owner's policy?
General liability insuranace is a great resource to have in your back pocket for freelance or small startups without a brick and mortar location. The business owner’s policy will combine the property aspect such as your location and all the interior/exterior valuables along with the intellectual aspect such as negligence, slander, and/or advertising injury for example. These are still for smaller businesses, but ones that have physical properties that need protecting as well.
Can any small business obtain BOP (business owner's policy) coverage?
For the most part YES. There are certain requirements for each industry depending on which insurance company. Since we are an independent agency we will gather all the pertinent information about your business and then search for the best company for you. We will look at both admitted and non-admitted companies with the best ratings. You can then look at the results and choose the best company that matches your needs and budget.
GROUP MEDICAL COVERAGE
Our health is one of the most important aspects of living, and your employees know that. If you can’t offer competitive rates for insurance, that can provide a slight leg up for your competition. We all want and deserve better coverage at a better price. We can help!
How large or small does my organization need to be in order to obtain group medical coverage for myself and my employees?
You can have as small or as large of an organization as anyone else and still be able to obtain this coverage. Now, the rates will vary from provider to provider based on the number of employees and their ages.
Can an employee cancel their policy at any time after obtaining coverage?
There are certain conditions that need to be met. There is an open enrollment at the beginning of each calendar year, and that is when employees can select or reject coverages. However, if an employee is terminated or obtains a policy elsewhere, showing proof of another policy, then yes, it may be canceled.
There are a variety of stipulations, so if you are unsure, don’t hesitate to give us a call or send a message.
PROPERTY LIABILITY
Having the ability to obtain this coverage separately comes in very handy here in Florida. Every business and their needs varies, so you may be a business that has a unique need for just this type of insurance coverage, or you already have a policy elsewhere, but need to add this coverage as well.

Do I need to buy insurance for my work vehicle?
Liability insurance provides basic coverage when you are at fault in an accident and there is property damage or personal injuries involved.
There are always two specific coverages included in liability insurance: Bodily Injury and Property Damage.
Bodily Injury (BI) – If you are involved in an auto accident and are found to be at fault, the BI section of your Liability insurance policy pays for expenses and costs related to another person’s injuries. Bodily injury pays expenses when a person is injured or killed in the accident. It can provide coverage and protection for a number of issues such as medical care and hospitalization, funeral expenses, long-term care or rehabilitation, and pain and suffering among other things.
Property Damage (PD) – If you are involved in an auto accident that you are at fault, the PD section of your Liability coverage will pay for damages you inflicted on someone else’s property. For example, PD coverage pays for repair costs to another person’s vehicle if you collided with it. Property damage can also pay the repair or replacement costs related to non-vehicle property damages, such as a building, damaged product, fencing, or fire hydrants.
If you are sued because of an accident, your liability coverage can also pay the legal defense fees.
Who Needs Liability Insurance?
Liability insurance is generally required by law for all persons who drive a vehicle.
Self-employed truck drivers are required to have liability insurance before they can obtain certain licenses and filings.
WORKER’S COMPENSATION
It is important to understand workers’ compensation laws in your state as both an employer and an employee. This insurance can help protect your business and employees in events including falling, injuries while moving office furniture, car accidents following client visits, and much more.
What does workers' compensation cover?
A frequently asked question includes the coverage of workers’ compensation insurance. Workers’ compensation insurance helps cover medical expenses, lost wages, ongoing care costs, as well as funeral expenses if an employee is hurt, becomes sick, or dies as a result of a work-related accident or illness.
What is not covered by workers' comp?
Workers’ compensation insurance can help protect your business and employees in the event of a covered loss, but some situations take place on the job that are not covered by workman’s comp insurance. These vary from state to state and are typically determined by different state laws.
Here are a few examples of what most workers’ compensation plans do not cover:
- Injuries received by a fight that an employee started
- Injuries an employee sustains due to being intoxicated in the workplace
- Injuries an employee gets intentionally
- Emotional injuries that are not accompanied by a physical workplace trauma
